1. Please can you give us a short description of Dermalogica and also provide our readers with an insight into how the brand started?

Results-driven formulations have always been the priority with a focus on skin health over beauty from inception. Dermalogica is an inclusive brand with a solution for every skin and your regimen can be tailored to your lifestyle and preferences.
3. Does Dermalogica have a hero product for men?
Yes! Special Cleansing Gel. This foamy face wash offers a great lather and deeply cleanses away impurities without stripping skin’s natural moisture. Pro tip! You can use the lather as your wet shave medium. Shaving foams often leave skin dry and irritated due to their alkaline pH. Special Cleansing Gel is acid balanced to avoid disrupting the skin’s pH.
4. What is your recommendation for a man just getting started with his skincare?
Stick to the daily essentials of cleansing and moisturising the skin and be consistent. Wash your face and moisturise every morning and evening to achieve and maintain healthy skin. My top recommendations are Special Cleansing Gel and Active Moist. If you need more of a boost, add in a daily exfoliator to slough off dulling dead skin and keep pores clear. Daily Microfoliant is a firm favourite of our male customers. Still want more? Add a targeted brightening eye serum or a hydrating serum such as AGE Bright Clearing Face Serum for super healthy-looking skin.

5. Do you have any top tips on how men can use Dermalogica products to combat dry skin?
Avoid products that make skin feel tight such as harsh cleansers and shaving mediums. Focus your regimen on hydration by layering hydrating actives before locking them in with a moisturiser. My recommended regimen for dry skin is a non-drying facial cleanser followed by our Skin Smoothing Cream or Intensive Moisture Balance Moisturiser. These hydrating formulas saturate skin with moisture without a greasy shine.
6. What do you consider to be the most important part of a man’s grooming routine?
Defending skin from environmental assault is a priority to keep skin looking its best. Always complete your regimen with a SPF, this can fit easily into your morning regimen with a moisturiser with built-in sunscreen.
7. Is it ever too early or too late to use anti-ageing skincare products?
You don’t need to use products to reverse skin ageing until you’ve reached your 30’s unless you have prematurely aged your skin through neglect and sun damage. Having a consistent regimen that ensures skin is kept clean, hydrated, and protected from the elements will go along way to keeping skin looking healthy for its age. Prevention is definitely better than cure but actives such as Retinoids and Vitamin C can help reduce lines, wrinkles and skin discolouration.
8. Please can you explain what ‘Facemapping’ is and how it helps us understand more about our skin?
Face Mapping is Dermalogica’s advanced skin analysis tool used by a professional skin therapist along with a detailed consultation to understand not only the current health of your skin but what is contributing to that. We’ll educate you on how to improve any areas of concern through lifestyle adjustments, home care products and professional treatments. You can also get Face Mapping digitally by uploading a selfie and letting the advanced AI technology read your skin and tailor product recommendations.
9. What is the one piece of expert skincare advice you would offer to the Humanery man?
Prioritise your self-care until it becomes habitual. Looking after yourself and your skin can be positive for your mental health by building self-confidence, skin and body positivity and self-acceptance. Remember, there is no such thing as ‘perfect’ skin so embrace your individuality.
