Dandruff is a condition of the scalp that causes flakes of skin to form. Often similar to Dry Scalp, Dandruff can also be accompanied by itchiness and redness (and sometimes can get infected if scratching leads to a wound). While it is not a serious condition, it can be embarrassing and difficult to treat.
What causes dandruff?
The exact cause of dandruff is unknown, but it is thought to be related to a fungus that lives on the scalp. This fungus, known as Malassezia, feeds on the oils produced by the skin. When this happens, the skin cells are not shed properly, and they build up on the surface of the scalp. This can lead to flaking and itchiness.

The most common cause of dry scalp is dehydration, which can strip the skin of its natural oils and leave it feeling dry and irritated.
